Healed is thy hardness -- lump dissolved
One day I discovered a hard
lump in one breast. My husband and I were
very concerned. Who
wouldn't be?
My first reaction was to squelch my own fear
because I'd been taught that fear is often
the biggest part of disease. My family has
relied on God as our Physician for four
generations. Over the years, I have
experienced and witnessed many beautiful
healings and proofs of God's tender love, so
it was natural for me to turn to God again
this time. It was also natural to expect
complete and quick results.
To help me, I hired a seasoned Christian
Science Practitioner to give me Christian
Science treatment, i.e., to pray for me. I
didn't go to her office, instead we just
talked on the phone for a few minutes each
day. She shared with me inspiring words of
absolute truth and I could sense her
complete confidence in Gods healing power. I
don't recall exactly how long it took--two or
maybe three weeks--then the lump was gone. I
did not seek a medical diagnosis, so I don't
know if the lump was benign or not. It
doesn't matter; it was gone.
Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder
of Christian Science, says in her book,
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, "Fear, which is an element
of all disease, must be cast out to readjust
the balance for God." (S&H 392:5-7) How does
one cast out fear? The Bible tells us in I
John 4, verse18, that "perfect love casteth
out fear." To me this means that Gods love
for me eliminates the fear. God loves each
of His children and that love is way more
powerful than any lump of matter. Gods love
is the only power. His divine love embraces
me, uplifts me, carries me, and nullifies
every scary thought. One of my favorite
hymns says, "Healed is thy hardness, His love
hath dissolved it." And that's exactly what
happened. The hardness was simply dissolved.
This healing occurred more than twenty years
ago. I've had many more healings of various
ailments and injuries since then, and I
treasure each healing as proof of God's love.
I'm so very grateful to my Heavenly
Father-Mother God for each healing. As the
Psalmist says, "In God I will praise his
word, in God I have put my trust; I will not
fear what flesh can do unto me." Psalm 56:4.
