Unharmed by scorpion bite

One day at work, a co-worker handed me a pile of incoming mail.  Unknown to her, a scorpion was hiding in the pile.  It stung my hand.  I cried out in pain and surprise and dropped the mail and the scorpion.  

As a lifelong student of Christian Science, my usual response to any such happening is to pray.  That is, I silently and briefly gave myself a Christian Science treatment on the spot.  It went something like this, affirming Biblical truths.  “Nothing occurred here that can harm my true spiritual nature as a child of God.  My Heavenly Father made me in His image and gave me dominion over every creeping thing (Gen 1:26-28).   In Him I live and move and have my being (Acts 17:28).  My life may appear to be in a mortal, physical body, but according to Biblical law, I live in God’s infinite presence where His law rules and where I am completely safe.”

As a result, the pain subsided immediately.  Within about ten minutes, the pain and redness were gone entirely.  I continued my usual routine at work.
