Greater Works

Jesus said, “He that believeth on me. The works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”(John 14: 12)
Greater Works?  Like what?
Like absent treatment, for example?  The New Testament records only three cases of absent treatment:
1.  When Jesus healed the centurion’s servant  (Luke 7:2-10) and
2.  When Jesus healed a Canaanite woman’s daughter  (Matt 15:22-28)
3.  When Jesus healed the nobleman’s son (John 4:46-50)
Today, among Christian Scientists, absent treatment is happening daily.  Practitioner and patient communicate almost exclusively by phone, email, text, Skype, whatever, but rarely in person.  We’ve learned that distance makes no difference.  It’s not a factor in healing.
Children in Sunday School as young as three  are learning how to pray and find healing results from their own prayers.
Today spiritual healing is protected by law in every state in the union.
Natural disasters and extreme weather conditions are no longer called “acts of God”nor treated as such by insurance companies.
These are just a few examples.  No doubt there are others.  I’m very grateful to live in an era when greater works are the norm.
