One day I discovered a hard lump in one breast.   My husband and I were very concerned.   Who wouldn’t be?

My first reaction was to squelch my own fear because I’d been taught that fear is often the biggest part of disease.   My family has relied on God as our Physician for four generations.   Over the years, I have experienced and witnessed many beautiful healings and proofs of God’s tender love, so it was natural for me to turn to God again this time.   Christian Scienace offers reliable and lasting results.   This healing happened in about 1984, and it has been permanent.

To help me, I hired a seasoned Christian Science Practitioner to pray with me giving me Christian Science treatment.   I didn’t go to her office, instead we just talked on the phone for a few minutes each day.   She reminded me of a line from a hymn in our church hymnal:  “Healed is thy hardness.  His love hath dissolved it.”   ‘His love’ refers to God’s love for me, which is more powerful than any lump.   Knowing that His love is always present and all powerful helped to eliminate the fear.

Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, says in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Fear, which is an element of all disease, must be cast out to readjust the balance for God.” (Science & Health page 392, lines 5-7)   How does one cast out fear?   The Bible tells us in I John 4, verse 18, that “perfect love casteth out fear.”   To me this means that God’s deep profound love for me eliminates the fear.

God’s love also makes me, as God’s child, loving toward others.   After some soul searching, I knew that I needed to change hardness in my thinking toward others.  Every day I made an effort to be more gentle, more patient, less critical toward those around me at home and at work — especially one particular co-worker.    I knew that God is always with me, tenderly loving me.  The fearful thoughts just melted away when I focused on being more loving and patient.   In about 18 days the lump was gone and no lumps have developed since then.    I’m very grateful to God for this permanent healing.
